Each year tens of thousands of people have corrective laser eye surgeries performed. Given recent FDA warnings about the safety and efficacy of laser eye surgery procedures, finding the right laser eye surgeon to address personal vision needs is more important than ever.

Here are a few of the criteria that Goldline Research uses when evaluating a dependable Laser Eye Surgeon:

  • The number of years of experience
  • Any specialized services offered by the doctor/practice (e.g. LASIK®, PRK, etc.)
  • Any advanced technology offered by the doctor/practice
  • The number of total staff
  • The number of doctors in the practice, if applicable
  • Advanced certifications and/or training held by staff (e.g. ABO)
  • The types of insurance the doctor/practice accepts, if any
  • The number of offices the doctor/practice has
  • The number of laser eye surgeries the doctor/practice has completed
  • The surgery failure rate for the doctor/practice
  • The availability of the doctor/practice for patient scheduling
  • Licensing (local, state, federal), if applicable
  • Membership in relevant trade associations (e.g. ABO, AAO, etc.)
  • The number of active patients
  • The number of total patients
  • An analysis of any patient additions in the last 12 months
  • An analysis of any patient losses in the last 12 months
  • The quality of patient and professional references
  • A review of any outstanding lawsuits, grievances and/or complaints against the firm/professional
  • The doctor’s/practice’s key differentiators
